Jackson Township is home to the closed CECOS hazardous landfill site, a 211-acre facility located on Aber Road owned by Republic Services, Inc.

The landfill was opened in 1972, and is surrounded by 1,000 acres of farmland owned by Republic Services. The facility stopped receiving waste in 1988, and the closure was completed in 1997 while under the ownership of Browning Ferris Industries. BFI merged with Allied Waste in 1999. Republic Services has been managing and monitoring the landfill since its merger with Allied Waste in 2008.
